Wired alarm systems

4 companies say they offer this across Washington, each with L&I license details.

Wiring an alarm panel, door contacts and keypads is limited-energy electrical work: the company needs an L&I electrical contractor license with specialty 06, 02 or 01.

Before you hire

  1. Ask who owns the panel and whether you get the installer (master) code at the end of the job, so another company can take over monitoring later.
  2. Small alarm jobs (up to 20 devices) can go on an L&I Class B permit with a random-inspection label. Ask who pulls it.
  3. If you sign at home, you can cancel a financed sale until midnight of the third day, not counting Sundays and holidays (RCW 63.14.154), and most home sales under the FTC Cooling-Off Rule.
